USB-C laptop chargers by wattage

Read the number on the brick or in the laptop spec — that wattage (W) is what you shop. Pick it below. A higher-watt USB-C PD charger is fine if the cable and laptop support Power Delivery.

How to read the number on the brick

The wall adapter is printed with an output in watts (W), or as volts × amps (multiply those to get watts). Example: 20V ⎓ 3.25A is 65W. Order that class of USB-C PD charger — not a random phone brick.

If the print is faded, check the laptop’s tech specs or the manufacturer’s power-adapter page. Walkthrough: how to find required wattage.

Cable matters at 100W

USB-C Power Delivery at 100W is 20V at 5A. That needs an e-marked 5A cable. USB-IF labels certified USB-C to USB-C cables as 60W (3A) or 240W (5A). A 60W-marked cable will cap a 100W charger.
