Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 charger: what wattage to buy

Galaxy Z Flip8 takes 25W Super Fast Charging (Samsung: up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a 25W adapter and 3A USB-C cable). The box has a USB-C cable but no wall adapter, so buy a 25W or higher USB-C PD charger with PPS — a 30W PPS brick is the easy match.

Full answer

Samsung’s spec sheet for the Galaxy Z Flip8 lists wired charging up to 55% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter and 3A USB-C cable, and Samsung US says the Flip8 “supports 25W Super Fast Charging when used with a compatible Samsung charger.” There’s no wall charger in the box: you get the phone, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool and a Quick Start Guide, and Samsung says the travel adapter is sold separately and recommends a Samsung 25W Super Fast Charger.

For Super Fast Charging, Samsung AU says the charger must support USB Power Delivery PPS (Programmable Power Supply), even if it has a high maximum output. So buy a 30W (or bigger) USB-C PD brick whose maker lists PPS. A 45W or 65W PPS brick works too, but the Flip8 still charges at 25W. Skip old USB-A cubes, because they can’t Super Fast Charge.

What’s in the box (no charger)

What’s in the Galaxy Z Flip8 box

Samsung US lists the box contents as the Galaxy Z Flip8, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool and a Quick Start Guide. The travel adapter (wall charger) is sold separately, and Samsung recommends its 25W Super Fast Charger. Any PPS USB-C PD charger above plugs straight into the in-box cable.

25W Super Fast Charging and PPS

Super Fast Charging needs PPS

Wired: Samsung AU says Super Fast Charging may not work if the charger lacks USB-PD PPS, even when its maximum output is high. Samsung’s own 25W adapter (EP-T2510) publishes PPS 3.3–11.0V / 2.25A; Anker documents PPS 3.3–11V⎓3A on its Nano 30W and 3A PPS on its 45W A121D, and UGREEN lists PPS and says its 10334 supports Galaxy Super Fast Charging 1.0.

Speed: Samsung’s lab figure is up to 55% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter and 3A USB-C cable, phone at 0% with all services, features and screen turned off. A 45W or 65W brick won’t beat that on a Flip8.

How to turn it on: On Galaxy S23 series models and later, Samsung AU says Fast charging and Super fast charging are under one Fast charging toggle (Settings > Battery > Charging settings).

Wireless: Samsung lists Fast Wireless Charging with 15W (Fast Wireless Charging 2.0) and Wireless PowerShare. We don’t list a wireless pad price here yet.

Which cable

The right cable

The Galaxy Z Flip8 charges over USB-C, and Samsung puts a USB Type-C cable in the box. Samsung’s 25W speed figure uses a 3A USB-C cable, so any USB-C to USB-C cable rated 3A (60W) or more is enough; you don’t need a 5A or 240W cable. Samsung recommends Samsung-approved chargers and cables. The UGREEN bundle above already includes two 100W USB-C cables if you want spares.
