Google Pixel 9 charger: what wattage do you need?

Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro fast charge at up to 27W wired and Pixel 9 Pro XL at up to 37W (Google, with its 45W USB-C Charger); Pixel 9 Pro Fold fast charges with the same 45W charger. No charger in the box — only a 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable. Google says any PPS USB-C charger rated 30W or more works; for the Pro XL’s 37W, pick one with PPS up to 21V.

Google’s tech specs give the wired numbers: Pixel 9 up to 27W, Pixel 9 Pro up to 27W, Pixel 9 Pro XL up to 37W, all measured with the Google 45W USB-C Charger, which is sold separately. For Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google lists “fast charging” with the same 45W charger but no wired-watt figure; its regulatory charger note says a 7.5–27W charger reaches the Fold’s maximum charging speed. None of the four ships with a wall charger — the box has a 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable and a SIM tool.

What to buy: Google’s charging help says any Programmable Power Supply (PPS) adapter rated 30W or more works (other USB PD adapters of 15W or more also charge). That covers Pixel 9, 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold with a 30W PPS brick. For Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google’s safety guide rates the phone for USB PD 3.0 PPS up to 21V / 2.25A — the same PPS top step Google’s own 45W charger lists. The UGREEN 65W card above is the one on this page whose maker documents PPS up to 21V. The Anker 30W and 45W cards document PPS but not a 21V range, so we list them for the 27W models only.

What’s in the box (no charger)

What’s in the Pixel 9 box

Google’s tech specs list the same box for Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold: a 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable (USB 2.0) and a SIM tool. Google says its wired charging rates use the Google 45W USB-C Charger and that adapters are sold separately — so you need to buy the wall charger.

PPS, 21V and fast charging

Why PPS matters on Pixel

Wired: Google’s charging help lists, in order, Google’s own 30W / 45W / 67W chargers, then “any Programmable Power Supply (PPS) power adapter rated for 30W or more”, then other USB Power Delivery adapters rated 15W or more. Google’s safety guides give each phone’s USB PD 3.0 PPS rating: up to 11V / 3A (Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro Fold), up to 21V / 1.5A (Pixel 9 Pro) and up to 21V / 2.25A (Pixel 9 Pro XL). Google’s 45W USB-C Charger lists PPS up to 11V/3A, 16V/3A and 21V/2.25A (45W max).

Speed (Google, 45W charger, lab conditions): Pixel 9 and 9 Pro up to 55% in about 30 minutes; Pixel 9 Pro XL up to 70% in about 30 minutes. Google notes actual results may be slower.

Wireless: Pixel 9 up to 15W, Pixel 9 Pro up to 21W and Pixel 9 Pro XL up to 23W on Google Pixel Stand (2nd gen); up to 12W on Qi-certified EPP chargers. Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Qi-certified but Google says it doesn’t support Pixel Stand because of where its charging coil sits. We don’t list a wireless pad price here yet.

Which cable

The right cable

Every Pixel 9 model charges over USB-C. Google says to use a USB-C to USB-C cable — one (1 m, USB 2.0) is in the box. A USB-A to USB-C cable also works with a USB-A adapter but charges slower (Google). The Apple 2 m cable card above is a spare or longer USB-C to USB-C option; see the USB-C cable guide.
